Harvest Faire, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is a bi-annual, free to the public, 2-day Middle Ages Faire run entirely by a group of volunteers. This year, we are once again partnering with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore on a crusade to end food deficiencies in the Tidewater area. To learn what impact we have had in the community, check us out here.
Springtime in the Shire and Harvest Faire are two-day events focusing on the celebration of the spring blossoms and fall harvest, fostering the spirit of community as it has been celebrated in the past and continues to be celebrated in the future. Participants can interact and learn about life in the Middle Ages through the Golden age of Piracy by interacting with our various reenactment groups. Young and old can learn about what it takes to form a shield wall to defend the Viking village, meet the Pirates of The Loose Cannon Company as they teach living history through demonstrations of black powder cannons and small arms used in the Golden Age of Piracy, learn about chivalry and sword fighting from knights and royals, and learn basic sword and archery skills so you too can help defend the village from enemy hordes that would steal the food from the royal coffers. Participants will be encouraged to try their hand at games of strategy and skill.
There are both period and non-period merchants and artisans for a variety of shopping interests. Our diverse entertainers perform throughout the village grounds and on our main stage. The food court boasts both sweet and savory culinary delights and flavors to tantalize the pallet. Our venue, located at Breezy Hill Meadworks, allows participants to taste the past with traditionally made honey mead.
